Blepharoplasty is the name of the surgical procedure where excess skin of the upper eyelid is removed. This is done under local anesthesia as an outpatient.
There is bruising and swelling for a few weeks, but most patients are able to return to a light duty job in one week. The upper eyelid muscle can also be shortened to raise the lid increasing the aperture.
Both of these procedures are very often covered by your insurance carrier. Call Menard Plastic Surgery at (205) 391-9038 for more information.
